Help Center - Clippings

What are clippings?

Clippings are saved news articles or web pages relevant to your project, company, or competitors. Clippings allow you to save or archive important news in your industry, either for your own use or to share with other people in your company.

How do I create a new clipping?

You can clip news directly from a Competitor Page, or clip other pages from any source by clicking the "New Clipping" link in the top toolbar. However, the easiest way to save clippings is to use our bookmarklet, which is available in the "Clippings" page.

How do I ensure my team members see the clippings I save?

When creating a clipping, you can check "Email project members" to send an email about the clipping to all members of the current project. Both on the "Dashboard" and "Clippings" pages, clippings not yet seen by other members are also highlighted the next time they use Competitious, and members can subscribe to a feed of new clippings via RSS. The link to the RSS feed is available on the "Clippings" page.

What is sentiment, and why should I assign it to a clipping?

When saving a clipping about an article, you can classify the article's sentiment, or opinion about the company or companies mentioned. Assigning sentiment meaningfully organizes your cippings, and provides more context to other members of the project who will read the clipped article.
